Gustav Rosenlof

Gustav was born in Finland where he spent his early childhood. His family moved to the United States when he was ten years old and settled in New York City. He was drawn to art at an early age. In grade school he would often be found drawing cartoon figures and he saw every verbal of written report as an opportunity to make an art project. While attending the High School to Music and Art, Gustav became interested in the Mobiles of Alexander Calder and received several awards for his painting and was honored with a scholarship to the Brooklyn Museum Art School.
In College he turned his attention to Architecture and earned a Degree in Architecture from The Cooper Union.
After a career in Architecture, Gustav has, for the last decade, been concentrating on his Watercolors and Mobiles.
He studied watercolor at the Cooper Union and at the National Academy under the instruction of the renowned watercolorist David Dewey and began to develop his own unique style of Mobiles,
Over the past several years Gustav has established himself as a recognized Watercolor and Mobile artist in the tristate area centering on New York City. He has exhibited his paintings in numerous group and solo shows, and his Mobiles have been exhibited in the Montclair Museum and in a solo show at the Monmouth Museum.
Gustav is an elected member of both the North East (NEWS) and New Jersey (NJWCS) Watercolor Societies.
